About Jared
Jared Siler is a fiction writer and licensed school psychologist whose work deeply explores themes of self-discovery, loss, trauma, and healing. With over 12 years of experience working across multiple states in the U.S. and completing a practicum in China, Jared brings a broad and compassionate perspective on human behavior and resilience to his storytelling.
Encouraged by his personal experiences, Jared began therapy as a teenager—a turning point that helped him face his own emotional struggles and begin a lifelong practice of introspection. Since then, he has kept journals filled with moments of clarity he calls “greenlights,” inspired by the idea that even brief flashes of insight can illuminate the path forward.
“Under the Current” is Jared’s debut novel, born from his desire to explore the quiet battles many men face: the pressures of ambition, the weight of inherited silence, and the challenge of embracing vulnerability in a world that often rewards control. Through the story of Tristen, Jared invites readers to confront the emotional "tides" within themselves and consider the strength it takes to surrender to truth.
Jared has always been inspired by the central California coast and the wonders of the ocean, with its unrelenting power serving as a metaphor for the internal storms we all navigate. Now living in Phoenix, Arizona, with his wife, Molly, and their dog, Leo, Jared balances his writing life with his love of travel, journaling, meditation, movies, sports, and spending time outdoors. For him, writing is not just a craft but a way to connect—to himself, to others, and to the greater human experience.
